"Gleis Neun" is a well-known venue for culture and events in Bochum's lively Bermuda3eck. After 30 years, the "Riff" discotheque has been transformed into "Gleis Neun". This unique location offers a variety of concerts, cultural events and functions right in the centre of Bochum. Solo artists, bands, comedians, poets, DJs, poetry slammers and many other great artists perform on the "Gleis Neun" stage. As a concert photographer in Bochum, I specialise in capturing the unique atmosphere of this location with my camera and capturing it in beautiful concert photos.
With two halls and a spacious outdoor area, "Gleis 9" offers the ideal space and high-quality technical equipment for all kinds of events and cultural events. The varied programme includes concerts, club nights, comedy, poetry slams, indoor markets, readings, temporary exhibitions and corporate events.
From RIFF to Gleis 9
Bochum is known for its vibrant nightlife, which often starts in the Bermuda3Eck and continues in the numerous clubs. A real cult disco has now completely reinvented itself: The former "Riff". Since it opened over three decades ago on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz, it has become one of the hottest nightclubs in Bochum and the surrounding area. Now, under the name "Gleis Neun", it offers a new concept with a wider range of events such as readings, concerts and corporate events.
The new name is derived from the street sign in front of the entrance to the location: "Am Kulturgleis". Inspired by the former railway station site and the house number 9, the name "Gleis Neun" was created. The triangle in the logo symbolises the connection to the Bermuda3Eck opposite.
The reorganisation was due to changes in going out habits. A simple club could hardly survive in these times. With the reorganisation, the operators want to become more flexible, improve the image of the popular venue and appeal to new target groups. Even weddings, graduation parties and car presentations should be possible.
At the turn of the year, a new infrastructure was created in the club that lives up to its name and exudes an industrial charm. The counters have been remodelled and a new multi-bar has been added. Wood, steel and copper finishes create a rustic atmosphere. A highlight of the renovation is the new lighting system, which is also suitable for concerts.
The former cocktail bar is to be converted into a multifunctional area that can be used as a cloakroom, backstage area or catering space. The total capacity of the club, including the outdoor area, is a maximum of 850 visitors, in the hope of making Bochum's nightlife more attractive in the long term. The list of planned projects and events at "Gleis 9" is long, and Bochum's party scene will benefit from this breath of fresh air.
